On Tuesday, August 5th, a team of 12 of our professionals assisted in building Habitat for Humanity homes located on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester. Blue Hill Place is Boston Habitat's largest project to date. When completed, the site will have twenty-four new homes and 2,000 square feet of commercial space. This year the W&S volunteers worked on painting, moving wood and dry wall, prepping the floors for carpeting (hammering nails and filling in cracks with putty), and weeding and watering. In addition to loaning out its employees for the day, the firm also donated $2,000 to help support the project.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston is dedicated to building simple low-cost homes by forming partnerships with low-income families in need of decent and affordable housing. It believes homeownership is a vital step to help families break the cycle of poverty and contributes to pride in families and communities.
In 1987, Habitat of Greater Boston began construction on its first condo project in Dorchester. Since then, they have completed 73 projects (single family homes, condos and townhouses) in 4 towns.
