A manager in the firm’s tax department, Joanne Calandra joined Walter Shuffain in 2017. She previously worked at national, international and local accounting firms where she honed her expertise in business and personal taxation. As one of our “go-to” professionals in the areas of federal and state taxation, Joanne provides tax consulting and compliance services for both individuals and closely held businesses. Her clients are predominantly in the manufacturing, professional services and real estate industries. Joanne also consults on assurance for revenue recognition and sales and use tax issues.

Joanne chose the accounting profession because she believes it is important for all people to have financial freedom. She likes to provide her clients with informed, articulate answers to their financial questions. She constantly strives to keep current on new tax laws and trends that impact businesses. Having made close connections with her clients, she often asks them about their business needs. As a result, Joanne is able to deliver current business solutions and planning along with tax credit and mitigation suggestions when applicable.

Joanne received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University and aMasters in Taxation degree from Bentley University.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
