Staying current with client events helps Jon advise in real time, before major decisions are made that can impact a client’s cash flow or tax liability. He listens for opportunities to add value.

Jon Nelson joined Walter Shuffain in 2015 as a staff accountant and quickly worked his way up to manager in 2020. He provides audit, tax, and consulting expertise to clients in a variety of industries, with a primary focus in real estate and private equity. Jon works directly with a handful of the firm’s larger clients, focusing on providing an exception level of client service. No day is the same for Jon, and that is precisely what he enjoys most about his work. Beyond compliance, Jon is frequently asked to consult on various internal firm initiatives.  He also supports team skills building and growth through the Training and Corporate Social Responsibility committees.

Jon holds a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University. After joining the firm, he continued his studies, earning a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University in 2018. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
