Manager

Professional

By putting energy and effort into effective internal controls, Roger helps not-for-profit clients build a more financially secure and confident organization.

Wai Lun “Roger” Tam admits that he actually enjoys reading financial statements. He chose accounting as a profession because he can help not-for-profit organizations tell an accurate story about what they are currently doing, what they are investing in and why it matters. He provides assurance services predominantly to not-for-profit clients while consulting on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls matters. He helps organizations with large and small teams build strong accounting procedures and follow best practices for internal controls. Day-to-day, he is actively involved in planning and performing not-for-profit audits and assurance services as well as guiding the audit team.

A patient listener, Roger takes the time to identify issues that are important to each client and provide advice on how best to resolve those issues. He also invests considerable time every day learning new concepts and changes, including FASB updates, to consider what may impact his clients and their industry now or down the road.

Roger’s knowledge and oversight of the audit team also helps Walter Shuffain professionals become better client advisors and deliver timely assurance services.

Roger earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and a Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree from D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.

I grew up in Boston and couldn't imagine living anywhere else (except during the wintertime). I look forward to a future of faster air travel and other technological advances that would benefit humankind. Someday, I would like to visit the moon. Hopefully, the ticket price will be affordable.
