With a goal of becoming a CPA back in high school, Sharyl has enjoyed several decades of helping clients reach business, retirement and family legacy goals.

Sharyl Chamberlain is the primary advisor for Walter Shuffain’s forensic accounting and litigation support practice group. Utilizing her credentials as a certified fraud examiner (CFE) and certification in financial forensics (CFF), she is the firm’s go-to professional on matters referred by attorneys or requested by clients. She can help a business recreate a set of financials to investigate or rule out potential fraud. She also conducts fraud examinations and economic damage calculations as part of civil or criminal discovery and proceedings. In general, her forensic accounting knowledge supports financial risk management within companies and organizations.

Sharyl uses this experience to advise closely held business clients within a broad range of industries, with a specialization in the real estate and professional services industries. She delivers comprehensive guidance on accounting and attestation, tax planning and general business consulting. She will help clients set up, maintain and adjust their record-keeping and advise them on ways to strengthen internal controls in order to prevent fraud. She also counsels clients on important financial matters, including meeting bank requirements, evaluating sale or purchase agreements and mitigating potential tax burdens.

Sharyl serves on Walter Shuffain’s staff training committee, and she provides QuickBooks® training to staff and to her clients. She earned her degree from Northeastern University, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in accounting and management.

Sharyl is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, as well as the ACFE's Boston Chapter and the MSCPA litigation support and business valuation committees.

Personal

Sharyl is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. She and her husband Michael enjoy watching their children’s sporting events and taking annual family vacations to amusement parks. Sharyl also enjoys yoga and golf.

I hope to be able to do more traveling with my husband, not just throughout the United States, but also to other countries. Getting back to the ski slopes would be great, as well as more golf and, of course, spending more time with my family.
